This photograph was taken in the Bagan region of Myanmar (Burma)

I have climbed up this very narrow, dark stairway inside a 12th century temple in order to get a higher perspective. When the sun is down, I start down and find this young girl has lit a candle on every step in the darkest section, and is humming a tune to herself. My throat tightens.
